Everyday food items interest me because they are often overlooked. I especially like supermarket herbs as they have intense greens compared to varieties you might grow in the garden. I also like the way the colour changes when you look through the plastic wrapping.

I used a continuous line drawing to capture the large floppy character of the basil's leaves, before printing with the blotted line technique. There is something beautiful in everyday items and I like the way supermarket basil collapses when you scrunch the plastic wrapper down.
