This is the third drawing in my Pale Grey Castle series, in which I reinvent familiar scenes in Windsor and the Great Park. The two deer in the foreground have turned up in my artwork from time to time over the past 15 years. In this scene they are translucent, as if they have come and gone, leaving only an impression that appeared by degrees as I passed a pencil over the page.
