I was working on this piece a more traditional pose and lighting for a portrait and my shoulders were facing us a lot more and I was wearing a t-shirt, I found that the neck line was doing nothing for the face, and catching to much light, so while looking through a book of one of my favourite artists ie Rembrandt I saw one of his many amazing Portraits and it struck me straight away how to make this Portrait of mine work.... I just borrow his jacket put my shoulders more side on and I like to think it works. Hope you do to. I have been thinking about everything being in a state of flux, and entropy, these thoughts of us in the general scheme of things. It is not from a depressing point of view but a deep appreciation of our moment in time, the not tomorrow but the appreciation of the right now. Memento Mori This piece could be called A Portrait of Living Through Entropy.... There is beauty in many ways in the transient nature of our time on this earth.

Meditation XI. Facing the Universe

This is my newest piece from the “Meditations” series that I have been working on and off since 2018. These works are meditations on time as a substance that continuously moves with and around us in the here and now, opposite to the linear perception of time typical for the West European culture. The circular perception of time comes from my growing up in Asia. Through “Meditations”, I see time as a space, as an infinite labyrinth with ever-changing walls and crossing paths, an image I find truly fascinating. The intricate pattern of sea waters pulls me in but also gives me an impulse to stop and reflect. It is enchanting, almost bewitching. Waters become a symbol of human minds, multilayered, ever-changing. Like sea waters, they have their depths, unreachable and intriguing. This piece was done in combination of dry and wet-on-wet pastel techniques.

The vivid interior of the dragon fruit attracted me for its intense colour and graphic structure, but the painting is less about the object itself and more about how it is perceived over time. I work in my signature pixelated style, building the image from small, strokes of oil paint. Up close, the surface fractures into texture and mark; from a distance, the form slowly resolves. This shifting experience mirrors the way we engage with still life—glancing, returning, and discovering something new with each look. The painting sits between abstraction and representation, turning a familiar, fleeting moment into something held, examined, and quietly bold.
